Kanyaka Cemetery

Situated just across the creek from the historic ruins of Kanyaka Station this site has a number of readable headstones. The earliest marked grave is that of Martha Philips who died in 1857 aged 46 years. It is believed that there are at least 15 graves situated here some of which are not marked.

It is interesting to note the grave of one young boy who lived approximately five kilometres up the road. This boy "James Boyle" who died in April 1883 was only two years and ten months old. He was in the habit of going to meet his father as he walked home from his employment at Kanyaka. One day he never met up with dad and a search was carried out but they did not find him alive. He was eventually found across the creek and up the side of a hill but alas far too late.

Wilson Cemetery.

A number of burial sites are situated here amongst the Sandhills. This cemetery is situated along the old Wilson to Cradock road only about three kilometres from the Wilson historical site. Wilson is on the main road from Quorn to Hawker.

Gordon Cemetery

A number of graves are situated here and no doubt much of the history of Gordon is tied up with these sites. A government grant was obtained a few years ago to fence this grave site and repair some of the graves. This site is just south of the old town site of Gordon and can be seen from the Hawker to Quorn road.
