Quorn Cemetery

The cemetery at Quorn is situated three kilometres out of town on the south western slope of a small hill just off the Wilmington road. Quorn cemetery has three main sections. The northern section is where the Catholic church members are buried. The middle section is where the cemetery for others started and all the marked old graves are in here. Towards the front you will find some new burials in with older ones as some people wish to be buried in a family grave. It is believed that there have been some burials further to the east of the old burial site in amongst some native shrubs growing there. There are apparently no records of these particular graves.

The southern section is the one being used now and contains most of the recent burials. The Council maintains the site and has a constantly ongoing program of weed spraying to maintain a presentable appearance. In recent years the Flinders Ranges Council has developed a site further south for use by those wishing to bring ashes here for burial. Quorn cemetery seems to be a place where many travellers come to learn some of the secrets of their ancestors.

Those wishing to trace their relatives can obtain some helpful information from the council office as they have all the available records under their care.

Currently one of the locals is photographing many of the Quorn cemetery sites and will be putting this information on a data base along with plot numbers etc which will be given to council when finished as a record of the cemetery,

Quorn parklands Cemetery

Just behind South Terrace situated on the parklands is the site of an early cemetery in Quorn. The area has had some trees planted and is fenced of from traffic.
