This area is an artists' and photographers' paradise along with a bushwalker's and geologist's heaven. Secret Number 1 Playford Rock
Situated in Willis Gorge approximately 26 kms from Quorn along the Buckaringa Gorge road. A short 20 minute walk will take you there. Be careful on the rocks when it is wet as they are particularly slippery. There is a great shady spot for a picnic in the main creek where you leave your car. A painting of this rock was presented to Sir Thomas Playford the great SA premier in the late 1950's. Secret Number 2 - Devils Peak trail
Eleven kms South of Quorn you will find a delightful parking spot from which you can commence the 90 minute climb up to the top of Devils Peak and magnificent views. Take your time and look around as this area offers a huge variety of flora and wildflowers in season. Stop for a while on the way and listen to the birds singing. To climb on top you must go through the gap to the West side and then scramble up the sloping rock face. There is a plaque here in memory of a person who fell many years ago. The Eastern side of this peak is often used for rock climbing. Secret Number 3 - South Creek Gorge
One of the many hidden secrets on private land. If staying at "Argadells" property country homestead then you should get permission from the owners to view this fabulous gorge . This gorge has a large colony of yellow footed rock wallabies. They can often be seen coming down to drink in the late afternoon. A truly great site to have a backpack picnic lunch and spend a few hours. Look up while in the gorge and see the huge slabs of rock like some strange sentinel looking down upon you. Take care as the rocks here can be very slippery when wet. If time permits follow the trail about 1 Km through to the western side of the gorge and take some great photos 1 to 2 hours before sun-down. [ FRC Area ] [Escaped Secrets] [
